D.R.L. Sports badge Silver. This final version of the award was introduced in 1937 by the German National Physical Training Union (D.RL.) in three classes as a recognition of proficiency in sports. The design of the badge, which measures 39mm x 48mm, incorporates the initials ‘D.R.L.’ within a wreath at the base of which is a large swastika in relief. ThisSilver grade example is die struck from brass with a silvered finish. Complete with the correct German style hinge and full maker’s name on the reverse. Although a civilian award the D.R.L. Sports Badge was often awarded sericemen to an worn on the military uniform.
